MEASUREMENT AND TEMPLATE INSTRUCTIONS

The accurate taking of measurements and/or making of templates on your part will help guarantee a perfect fit for the radius trim.

The radius trim for most half round, full round and brow top windows and some quarter round windows can be made from dimensions.  Measurements should be taken accurately to the nearest 1/16”.  For measurement instructions please click here.

The radius trim for elliptical, oval and other unique shaped windows will always require a template.  For template instructions please click here.

For crowns, bases and other specialties, if the wall radius is known and is constant, the trim can be made from dimensions.  Clearly indicate what the dimensions represent.  If the wall radius is not known or if the curve is irregular, a template is required.  Indicate clearly what the template is showing, which way is up, and which way the profile is to point.

Concave – Profile points into curve

Convex – Profile points out of curve

Again, the more accurate the measurements and/or templates, the more exact the fit will be.

Each template not conforming to the “Template Instructions” will be subject to a $20.00 template charge.

Examples of non-conforming templates include, but are not limited to:

  • Short cuts with large spaces in between
  • On material other than brown craft paper or red rosin paper (i.e., plastic, tar paper)
  • Drawn on or cut from cardboard, plywood, etc.
  • An existing casing (we accept a tracing of the inside edge of a casing on paper make sure existing casing fits first!)
  • Any template that is not the inside of the jamb or the inside of the casing
  • Any template requiring a negative reveal
  • Any template of a rough opening (we accept R.O. measurements for brow and half-round openings)
  • Any template stating, for example, “extend this end 12.”

Architectural Accents will not guarantee the fit of any trim or jamb made from non-conforming templates.

Remember, we assume the side written on is the front and make the casing face up.  If this is not the case, clearly indicate which side is to be the face.

Architectural Accents will inform you before proceeding if the template does not conform to our standards.
